James Edward Spidell, was born November 20, 1937 in Lanett, AL to the late Willie Mae Jones and Charlie Spidell.
James Spidell departed this life at his residence on Friday, December 25, 2020.
As a young adult, James joined Pilgrim Baptist Church in Lanett, AL. James among several other members of Pilgrim played a special part in painting the new addition to the church structure which is know as Pilgrim Development and Outreach Center that faces Cherry Drive.
Affectionately known as, “Spidell” James was a loving and caring person. “Spidell” never met a stranger. James attended Lanier High School.
James developed an interest and passion for painting during high school. He mastered this craft which led to a full-time career in which he painted for several business and residents of Lanett, Valley and West Point for many years.
James was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Mollie Jones, grandfather Jasper Spidell, sisters Josie Spidell, Flora Dennis, Elaine Boyd, and brother Amos Spidell. James leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Cindy Potts of Atlanta, GA and Bernadette (Calvin) Winston of Lanett, AL; one son James Spence of Atlanta, GA; two sisters Janice Spidell and Sharon (Oscar) Johnson of Lanett, AL; one brother Ulysses (Ricky) Huguley, Jr. of Lanett, AL; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his caregiver Larry Lovelace of Lanett, AL
