Hilda Amelia Harris Patten was the seventh child born to the Gloster J. and Erma R. Harris on September 21, 1957 in Langdale, AL
At an early age, Hilda confessed Christ and joined the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Lanett, AL but later moved her membership to Greenwood Baptist Church. She assisted in the Kitchen Ministry until her health failed.
Hilda was educated in the Chambers County School System, attending Drew Junior High School, Valley Junior High and Valley High School. She was very athletic and loved playing softball. She was a member of the Drewlettes Softball team and played third base.
Hilda departed this life on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the West Georgia Medical Center Hospice Center, in Lagrange and was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Gloster J. Harris Jr, and Micheal L. Harris, nieces Tara Morgan and Tamila Bell.
Hilda learned cooking skills from her mother, Mrs. Erma Ruth and she carried on preparing the delicious meals for family and friends. Her last employer was Tilley’s Dry Cleaners.
Hilda met and married the love of her life, Ronnie Patten on August 22, 1992 and to this union they were blessed with four children to rear, love and nurture, Zondrea, Courtney, Lakiesha and Shemeka.
Hilda leaves to mourn her passing but to cherish her many memories, her loving and devoted husband Ronnie Patten, daughters, Zondrea(Quinntis Scott) Patten, Courtney (Tiffany) Harris, of Lanett, AL, Lakiesha (Alejandra) Owens, Lagrange, GA Shemeka(Jason) Green, TX, eleven grandchildren, Courtney Jr, Camauri and Caseon Harris, Quimellah, Naqualon, and Peyton Scott, Kinsley Davidson, Ayanna Williams, McKyson Cofield, Demarkies Cunningham and MeSiya Lawson; a brother, Anthony B. Harris, Lanett, AL, sisters, Gwendolyn Harris-Brooks, Phyllis A. Morgan, Sara Cofield, all of Lanett, AL, Delores (Louis) Clemonts, Greenville, GA, Ruthie (James) Jones, Cartersville, GA, Sylvia (Clayton) Gibson, Columbus, GA, sisters-in-law, Gloria Bobo, Bayonne, NJ, Willie Nell (Leroy) Phillips, LaFayette, AL, Shirley Magby, Margaret Baker and Annie Coombs, all of Valley, AL, and Priscilla Patten of Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Stacey Patten, Chattanooga, TN, Kim (Jacqueline) Patten of Valley, AL, Kip (Elaine) Mackey, of Lagrange, GA, and Milford (Vicky) Patten, Jr. of Lanett, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside Service will be held 1:00 PM EST on Sunday, February 21, 2021 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, AL with Rev. James McTier, serving as the eulogist.
A public viewing will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 3:00 PM EST until 7:00 PM EST.
