Frances Winston Boyd

 The Unity Family would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Ms. Frances Winston Boyd passed on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at her residence in Stone Mountain, Georgia. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 10:00 am - 8:00 p.m.

On January 12, 1927, in Lanett, Alabama The Lord saw fit to bring a bright Sunshine into the lives of the late Early and Gennie Mae Winston.  Frances married her true love the late John L. Boyd. Frances  was a loving, and devoted wife and a wonderful mother to her children.  Frances was affectionately  known to many as “Madea” Anytime you would see her you would see (always) a beautiful smile that would “light” up the sky.

       Frances received her formal education from Lanier High School in Lanett, Alabama.  She continued her journey in life working at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, now EAMC– Lanier Hospital where she retired after many dedicated years of hard work.  Frances accepted Christ as her Personal Savior and was united with Greenwood Baptist Church where she served as the director of the youth choir. She enjoyed sewing quilts and sharing many conversations with her family and friends.

        “Madea” was called home to Glory on September 4, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Claudine Boyd and Joanette Boyd and two sons, Thaddis Boyd and Jonas Boyd.

She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: three sons, Robert (Tammy) Boyd, Sr. of Stone Mountain, GA., Gregory (Tammy) Woody of Lanett, AL. and Michael (Linda) Woody of Valley, AL.; one daughter, Sayonaria Woody of Lanett, AL.; nine grandchildren, Shannon Boyd of Lanett, AL, Derrick Scott of Atlanta, GA, Masanda Boyd of Bronx, NY, Shemika (Terry) Magby of Marietta, GA, John E. Boyd of Lanett, AL, JoQuell Boyd of Smyrna, GA, Marcis Strickland of LaGrange, Ga, Quintavious Stirckland of Opelika, AL and Robert E. Boyd, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her siblings, Genevieve Heard of West Point, GA,  Millie (J.C.) Whitlow of Lanett, AL, Mattie Ruth (Willie) Goss of Lanett, AL and Lamar Winston of Montgomery, AL; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Boyd of Lafayette, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
